My FIRST post Transplant Christmas...

So I've just come on my blog all at the ready to tell you about my first Christmas Post transplant and what do I discover? Well it looks like I forgot to do Day 12 of my 12 days of Christmas. Ugh I am most annoyed with myself as I had it all planned as well Hey ho! I can try again next year, maybe I'll be more prepared and get a bunch of them written in November rather than doing them all in December but then in my mind that kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. Never mind I will give it another go next year :).

Right lets get on with actual Christmas! The morning was a quiet affair in the house this year, just me and mum again, my dad was at work but I was up and about at 5am (I had restless and achy legs from playing Badminton on the Monday) and instead of going downstairs immediately I decided to do my hair before I went down. I headed down at about 5:30 to a insane amount of presents. We're downsizing next year. It took about an hour for me and mum to open them all and I got some wonderful gifts that I'm so beyond grateful for. A particular favourite of mine this year is something really silly but something I really appreciate and it's a Chewits selection box LOL. I'm eating chocolate again but still not to the extent I used to and that kind of selection box was very much appreciated this year. I also got lots of other gifts that I loved too :-) This year I even got gym gear as presents which I was massively chuffed with! Who'd of ever thought me getting gym gear hey?

I had a few people to ring and it was lovely speaking to them on Christmas day, I got to spread my excitement around a little and me and mum organised the little nephews present for them for when they arrived at around midday. It was a train set that i took so much time setting up and displaying like you know a professional one and they then proceeded to demolish it LOL. They enjoyed it though which is the main thing. We had a lovely Christmas lunch although no turkey this year which I was pleased about because I'm not a massive turkey fan, I love Chicken but Turkey just isn't as nice Candice, Warren, Skyler and the boys stayed till about 3pm so they could get home and play on their toys as they had been so good and all they wanted to do was get home and play (As they should.)

Me and mum actually went for a little afternoon stroll which was quite nice and didn't feel like I had been completely and totally lazy all day. It was nice seeing all the families walking around with their dogs and just together. Me and mum however proceeded to spend the rest of the day being lovely and lazy, we both got in a nice nap and I got to watch my christmas day TV, FYI Doctor Who was freaking awesome the best Christmas Day Doctor Who I have seen in a while!

I hope you all had lovely days too which, family or friends or whomever you spend it with :-)

12 Days of Christmas || Day 11 || A late birthday, early Christmas...

The beautiful tree at the National portrait gallery
On Thursday last week I went away for a few days. I didn't really know what we doing or where we were going which made it all very exciting for me even if slightly frustrating because, well, we all know me and  I like to know things and I'm rather impatient. The good thing was I didn't have to wait long to find out what it was that we were doing because I got to open up presents on the Thursday evening and I got some really, really beautiful gifts that I'm so beyond thankful for but the one that explained why we were at a hotel and what we were doing the next day was in a little envelope and it was tickets to see the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera house!! Now to some people reading this it may not seem all that exciting to you but honestly I have been wanting to see the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House for a very long time and I could't get tickets to see it this year so I ended up buying tickets for myself to see it at the Bristol Hippodrome in January, so the fact that I got tickets to go to see it at the Royal Opera house was honestly just something so incredible for me and something I have dreamed of for so long. Imagine a very excited Stacie.

One little issue with the plan was that to get into London we had to use the tube. Now for those that don't know I haven't used the tube since I was 15 years old back in 2005 when the 7/7 bombings happened. I was in London that day and it just put me off using the Tube for life so we did have to get past anxiety Stacie on Friday and it actually went a lot better than I expected. We got on at Epping and had a 40 minute tube ride which wasn't too bad we were sat the whole way there I didn't have to use my crap sense of balance and we got to Covent Garden in one piece. The lift at Covent Gardens I swear has got way better! I swear it used to be the slowest thing on the planet it seems to have sped up, so that experience was much less traumatic than I remember it being lol.

The Royal Opera House is SO beautiful, it's one of those buildings that you just know will never be built again or anything like it. I'm not even sure they could build something like it again. Which is a shame I kind of wish they still made buildings like they used to, you know with all the unlimited amount of architectural knowledge I have ;-). The ballet was beautiful though, you just get absorbed into it and all the pretty dresses and music it was a absolute joy to be able to go to it and watch it.

Yep crap photography skills by mwah LOL.
After we had seen the Ballet I got another surprise and we went to the National Portrait Gallery where we firstly had a wonder round and not having enough art knowledge probably can't appreciate it to it's you know full potential but I did find it quite interesting, especially the older portraits of a lot of the Royal family, some of the more modern stuff I find harder to really "get" if that makes sense because some of them I said "He looks like Golem!" at least 4 times :-/ but I guess if Golem is what they were going for then they were spot on. That however was not the surprise but we went up to the restaurant they have which was really pretty and it had such a great view of London, I don't have a picture to show you as it was dark and all you could see was my reflection or me taking the photo but I assure you it was pretty you could see the London Eye, The Shard, Parliament, Nelsons Column, all that cool stuff and we had afternoon tea. This Afternoon tea was SO, SO good I can't even begin to explain how much I liked it. There were sandwiches I actually liked and were super yummy, the Scones were so good and little known fact about me scones are the only time that I actually eat cream, I don't know why that's the case because normally I depise most types of cream but put it with a bit of jam and Scone and I'm all good. Maybe it's the British in me and we can't resist a Scone lol. They also had little cakes on top and they were all very yummy too and then all the tea you could ever want, what more could you ask for?!

The Tube ride back was not fantastic it has to be said but that's just because we had to stand a lot of the way and as I mentioned before I really have no sense of balance at all and especially when I'm not in flat shoes either and therefore I just clung on for dear life, closed my eyes and prayed it wouldn't be that bad, and to be honest it wasn't and we eventually got to sit down, much to my relief. It was such a amazing day and I couldn't have been anymore grateful that I got to experience it :)

12 days of Christmas || Day 10 || Little nephew carolling...

So because I didn't see my little niece and nephews on my actual birthday the day after we decided to go for a meal in the eying and then they could give me their present then BUT before that I got to see my oldest little nephew Jaydon in his first ever christmas play, carol thing! If you're wondering why that required a exclamation mark or the massive but it really does require those! It's something I always wanted to see, I always wanted to see my little Jaydude in a school play thing and I did!!! It was like a little Carol concert for all of their reception year and Jayden's class were donkeys, another class were Santas another were tree's and there were stars scattered around in there too. IT was honestly the cutest thing I've ever seen and I was the rudest aunty ever!! Jayden can get a bit nervous if he has people watching him so we were a bit worried that he might you know freeze and not do anything but he didn't! He sang the whole lot and I couldn't be prouder of him!!

Then later on after we saw his little carols concert and picked up Spence from nursery as well and got mum from work we went to a pub and had a nice evening meal where the boys could then give me their present and cake (because Jaydon doesn't think a birthday is a birthday without cake, bless him!)

Candice thought of such a good a present this year and it's unlikely to be anything anyone who's not into that type of thing will appreciate but it's something I appreciate immensely! She got me a Harry Potter themed bracelet which has 25 charms on it and she made it so I could open 1 every day for advent so when I opened it I had 15 to catch up on and it's just really pretty and such a nice a gift.

Unfortunately I can't put any pictures up Jayden actually in his Carol concert because of the whole thing about other kids but you can still see Jaydude as a donkey though :)

12 Days of Christmas || Day 9 || Birthday...

I turned TWENTY FIVE the other day. Yep I am that old :-/ trust me guys I'm feeling the old-ness. Luckily having a twin sister has it's perks and I'm not doing the old thing alone, so at least I have company as I slowly decay. Anyway swerving away from mine and my sisters old-ness we did therefore have a birthday. It was a quiet affair this year for which I'm thankful for. I opened some gifts with my parents early in the morning before my mum went to work and then me and my dad had the morning to ourselves where we both watched Jurassic World which was one of my presents and neither of us had seen it yet. I was actually really impressed with it considering what a classic the original Jurassic Park is I was very impressed and I'm pleased it didn't seem to go on for too long which I think they could potentially have done but they didn't so thumbs up from me and my dad.

Then Megan, our friend Gina and I went out for afternoon tea. We went to Bowood which is about a 40 minute drive from where I live and Bowood is lovely I would recommend Bowood to anyone looking for  lovely place to visit I however wouldn't recommend their afternoon tea. We were all a bit disappointed with it if we're honest. I liked their Scone but that's about it. It was nice though for us to all you know sit around and chat and do all that stuff but like I said to Meg we'd never had their afternoon tea before so we didn't know what to expect and at least now we know not to have it again and go somewhere else if that's what we want :).

I didn't get to see my little niece and nephews on my actual Birthday but did the day after and you will hear all about that in tomorrows blog but for now here are some pictures of my actual day :)

12 Days of Christmas || Day 8 || Santa...

Since Candice's (big sister) kids came along it has become sort of a tradition to take them to see Santa. I'm assuming this isn't unusual and something a lot of people do. I guess for me though it's special because now that there's 3 of them it nice seeing them grow up and do it and it's more exciting for them. We did it last year and Spencer really wasn't that interested in it because he wasn't even 2 yet but this year both Spence and Jaydon were really into it and it was so cute just seeing them transfixed on Santa. Skyler probably won't be interested in Santa for about 2 more years because she's only 9months old at the moment and I really don't think she cared and if one of the photos I have is anything to go by she was scared of Santa LOL.

We went back to a place called Whitehall Garden Centre which is not far from where we live in Lacock. We went there last year and back this year and it was still just as good. They have all these really pretty displays which they obviously change every year because they weren't the same as last year. And in the lead up to seeing Santa there's like a little elf village that you walk through ad it's really cute and kind of just makes it real for the kids I guess. Then at the end there's a massive room with pillows for all the kids to sit on and watch Santa as he reads them a story and it's just so cute to watch and once Santa has done his bit they can go into the "warehouse" where they get to pick a toy and they get given a little Christmas tree as well. It's something I love to watch because it's so cute that they still believe in something like that and I don't want them to ever grow out of it :-D.

The Garden centre itself is really nice. They have a ice rink as well for people to go on and cute little cafe's to go into and they sell the prettiest decorations for trees. We did leave it a bit late going this year though which did make the experience some what stressful for me because there was just about a billion people around and rather than feeling like you were shopping it was more being shuffled along with the crowd. It's why I tend not to shop very much throughout December and tend to stick to online shopping when December hits because that kind of shopping just stresses me out and I end up apologising when I get shoved by somebody when I didn't even do anything and I'm pretty sure the human race just loses any sense of common decency at this time of the year :-/

12 Days of Christmas || Day 7 || Twenty Five...

I am officially Twenty Five.

I'm going to be honest I haven't been looking forward to this birthday at all this year. There's some family stuff going on that I won't go into but it's just making things a bit hard and something that I'm normally very excited for and can't usually wait for could really just pass by completely unacknowledged this year and I really wouldn't mind at all. The thing is no matter what is going on in my family life I personally need to acknowledge this day because it's a birthday I honestly never thought I would ever see.

I grew up with a goal of reaching 18 and when I reached that age my next goal was 21 because that was the 10 years life span my doctors had given my drugs and then finally I was put on the list where the doctors told me that they thought I had around 3 years left to live and that was the last goal that I set myself before my transplant. I pushed myself to the absolute limit getting past that 3 year mark and luckily all that waiting and pain paid off. Now I have a new target in my head and one I won't share but it's also a birthday that I've been telling people my entire life I would never ever see.

It's a bit weird for me turning 25 though. I kind of resent having a number applied to me because I missed out on so much during my teen years and my early twenties that 25 is old to me and I've never had the opportunity to be young. Twenty Five in my kind of life is mid life maybe even later (but we'll assume I'll be lucky here), I am already half way through my life if I am lucky, whereas for my twin sister this is only a quarter of the way through her life, it's a bit unfair really but hey that's what life is right? And I'm lucky that I'm even here when so many aren't and didn't make it.

People have been asking me what I want for my birthday and christmas this year and quite honestly nothing. I already got the rest of my life worth of presents back in May. A complete stranger gave me everything I could ever need, My life back. This day is more for her than me because without her and the surgeons and doctors who saved me I wouldn't be here. I've never had my own birthday it has always been shared and I have always loved that, so today mine and my sisters birthday will also be for her now too as she will live on through me and possibly others too so she might have many birthdays now but I'm more than happy for her to share mine and Meg's :-)

12 days of Christmas || Day 6 || Decorations...

Right guys, Decorations! If you know me or at leat read last years Blogmas post about decorations you will know that I usually abhor putting up decorations it's normally my least favourite part of Christmas. I love them once they're done but the actual process usually stresses me out and I get annoyed easily with it. This year however I have been very excited and very much in the decoration spirit and I very luckily got to decorate two trees. I had a lot of fun doing both :).

The first tree as seen below was completely new and we had to go out and buy everything for it and I had so much fun picking out new things to go on it we went for a mismatch vibe because themes are boring and I love a tree that has everything on it not just one colour, not just baubles but like everything on it and I think we did a great job. We even added little lollypops in little stockings and clipped on with pegs for the man that loves his sweeties. We even got very crafty and wrapped boxes and stuff to hide the tree stand and made angels too. I really had a lot of fun doing this tree, it was the least stressed I've ever been decorating a tree :)

Tree number two was my family tree which has years worth of baubles collected on it and it's always a very nostalgic experience for me to do and once again it's a bib bob tree with no theme unless you class bit bob as a theme lol. I'm hoping that after this years experience decorating at christmas is starting to grow on me maybe. I hope so anyway because I love decorations just the putting up has always put me off but this year I just had so much fun with it. Maybe this is what happens when you get older? I don't know well I'm sure we'll find out next Christmas hey :)

12 Days of Christmas || Day 5 || Hot Chocolate and cookie goodness...

As you guys know from my previous post I tried to have my PH studies on Monday and as we all know they didn't go quite to plan so on Monday evening me and my older sister and my little nephews and nice all had a little hot chocolate get together and made home made hot chocolate in the slow cooker and cookies as well and also just to make it that little more festive we gave it to the boys in little santa mugs whilst they also wore their little elf hats so they could be Santa's little helpers :) How cute is that?! PS please excuse how awful I look it was a rough day.

Okay guys so I made this hot chocolate last year so if you want my overall assessment on it go over to that post || here || and see what I said about it, trust me though it's very nice! Here's the recipe for it though if you just want that :)

Ingredients
Cup and 1/2 Cocoa Powder
1 tin of sweetened condensed milk
7 and 1/2 Cups of full fat milk
1/2 cup of Nutella
1 table spoon of vanilla
1/2 Cup of Nutella
Whip Cream
Marshmallows

Step One
Add the sweetened condensed milk, full fat milk and vanilla into the crock pot. Give it a little whisk to make sure it's combined.

Step Two
Add the Cocoa powder to the mixture. I would probably advise sifting it into the mixture or it takes much longer to whisk out any lumps. Also add the Nutella at this point too.

Step Three
Whisk until smooth and you can see no lumps.

Step Four
Turn the "Crock Pot," or as I call it slow cooker on high for 2 hours and stir intermittently throughout the 2 hours. Or you could turn it on low for 4 hours which ever you prefer.

Step Five
When it's steaming hot put into your favourite mug, or in this case the cutest little Santa mugs ever that we brought for my nephews and decorate to taste; whip cream, marshmallows, dusted cocoa powder if you like whatever you want.
